1. About this page
PAIA gives everyone the right to request records held by a private body where they need them to exercise or protect a right. POPIA gives you the right to ask what personal information we hold about you. This page explains what we hold and how to ask.
2. Information Officer
- Information Officer: [Information Officer to be confirmed]
- Email: [Contact email to be confirmed]
- Physical address: [Physical address to be confirmed]
3. Records we hold
- School accounts: schools’ details, staff email addresses and roles, campaigns, photos and settings.
- Campaign records: funded blocks and gifts, supporters’ names and contact details, payment references and status (held for the schools that run the campaigns).
- Company records: company registration, agreements with service providers, financial and tax records.
- Technical records: security and system logs.
Records about a school’s supporters belong to that school; we may refer a request for them to the school. What we collect and why is explained in our Privacy notice.
4. How to make a request
- Your own personal information: email the Information Officer with your name, the email address you used on BLOCKr, and what you’re asking for. There’s no charge to ask whether we hold your information.
- Other records under PAIA: complete the request form (Form 2) published by the Information Regulator and email it to the Information Officer, saying which right you need the record to exercise or protect.
We may ask you to confirm your identity before we release personal information.
5. Fees and timing
We’ll respond within 30 days, as PAIA requires, or tell you if we need to extend that. For PAIA requests, any fees are those set in the PAIA regulations, and we’ll tell you the amount before doing work that has a fee. We may refuse a request only on the grounds PAIA allows, and we’ll explain why.
6. The Information Regulator
The Information Regulator publishes the request forms and a guide to using PAIA, and handles complaints: inforegulator.org.za.
